Self-guided tours

Perfect for individuals or groups of less than 10 (no booking required).

Explore at your own pace

Self-guided tours are the best way to explore the Great Stupa for visitors and groups of less than 10 people (groups of 10+ must book).

Begin in our Visitor Centre where you’ll view an introductory film about who we are and how we came to be in Bendigo. Explore the interfaith Peace Park with your Walking Tour Map. Inside the Great Stupa learn about Buddhist culture and future plans for the project from one of our friendly and knowledgeable guides; all while viewing beautiful relics and statues, including the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace.

  • View a short introductory film giving the history of the site
  • Tour the Peace Park, focused on interfaith harmony with installations from Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Bahai and Buddhist faiths
  • Go inside the Great Stupa temple where the guide will talk about Buddhist culture, architecture, art and future plans
  • Stand in awe of beautiful relics and statues, including the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace
  • Add a short introduction to meditation at no extra charge
  • A chance for questions and answers at the end

Sit and relax at StupaView Café offering lunch, sweets and barista coffee, teas and iced drinks. The café is open daily from 10:30am to 3pm. Take a memento home with you from the beautiful Great Stupa Gift Shop. Browse our specialty jade, Nepalese gifts, local produce, souvenirs and much more.

We are a pet friendly site! As long as your animal friend is kept secured at all times (i.e. on a leash). Please be mindful of other animal visitors and clean up after your pet. Pets must dine outside if you’re planning to sit down at StupaView Cafe.

On weekdays we offer a complimentary buggy service for those needing assistance from the Visitor Centre to the Great Stupa. Please call ahead on 03 5446 7568 to book this service, as guided tours take priority. The buggy transports from the Visitor Centre to the Great Stupa only – it does not go through the Peace Park gardens.
