Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary
A collection of work for Edgar’s Mission, the non-profit farmed animal sanctuary located in Lancefield. The projects included creating collateral signage to be displayed around the premises, an app prototype for staff to learn the names and faces of the lamb residents, and an artist’s impression of their Welcome Barn’s redesigned interior.
The Three Briefs
United States of Kindness app prototype
In 2023, early lambing season saw over 45 orphaned lambs arrive at Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary. Termed “The United States of Kindness”, each lamb was named after a city or country. An app prototype was created to track and honour each lamb with a “passport” highlighting their origin, location, birth details, and breed.
Welcome Barn redesign
An artist’s impression of a proposed redesign of the Edgar’s Mission Welcome Barn includes a more upscale and inviting atmosphere suitable for events like weddings. The design was to feature a charcoal and timbre colour scheme with green accents, photos of Edgar Alan Pig and sheep Baa-rack on wood walls, a welcoming kitchen area, cozy atmosphere with globe lights and heaters, improved shop entrance, point-of-sale stand, display shelves, designated area for volunteer activities, clear check-in process and storage, and an enhanced retail experience.
Sanctuary Signage
Collateral signage to be displayed around the sanctuary included: a poster on dear Smudge, a calf who had passed away; a series of posters on The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare; and a storyboard capturing the rescue of 600 silkie roosters from an abandoned meat farm in January 2023.

The Brief
In Australia, sheep on farms are impregnated to give birth in winter, for their babies to be weaned in the fertile spring. This allows for the lambs to become fat before being slaughtered for the Christmas market. This is known as “lambing season”, which in 2023, started early. The fortunate orphaned lambs that made their way to Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary began to arrive as early as March. The season continued well into September, with new arrivals totalling over 45 lambs.
They were named that year after places around the globe, a theme that Pam Ahern had termed “The United States of Kindness”. To ensure that these babies were not forgotten, even as they were rehomed or may have passed away, I made an app prototype to highlight the enormity of that year’s arrivals and the unnecessary practice of winter lambing.
Each lamb has their own “passport” and highlights which continent their name originates from. Staff members at the sanctuary can locate where the lambs are located on the premises, or whether they have been rehomed. Similarly, their dates of birth and breeds, as well as their descriptions are included; especially useful as they are weaned from the bottle.
